If you are a long-time 7 KIDS customer, you are aware that I do a charity raffle every year to support a special organization. For the last few years, I have been supporting an organization called Singleton Moms. This year, I am supporting a new organization started by one of the founding members of Singleton Moms. This new organization is called Singleton Love. Andy Royal moved from Phoenix to Portland, Ore. and is now providing services to single parents undergoing cancer treatment in that city. The special thing about this new organization is that it is entirely volunteer supported. That means every dime we donate will go straight to the parents who need help so desperately. Most organizations, obviously, have costly infrastructure and paid employees, which is not a bad thing as these things are needed to run larger organizations. But the beauty of a small, start-up organization like Singleton Love is that our donations will have a more direct impact on the people they intend to help! Singleton Love will be providing the following services: bill payment assistance, house cleaning, and meal delivery.
UPDATE: Singleton Love has their first mom! Our donations will be helping her! Here's what they are saying about it:
We are so happy to have met our first Singleton Love Mom. Although it is hard to meet new parents under the circumstances and it is bitter sweet, until there is a cure we are grateful to be able to help.
Jennifer is 34 years old and has a five-year-old son named Lelan. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer about five weeks ago. It is especially scary for her because her mother passed just four years ago with the same diagnosis. She has already had surgery removing what they believe to be all of the cancer. She will start chemo in about four weeks and then will follow with radiation. She is like most women and reluctant to ask for help. But, if you know Bobby and I, then you know that we got her to accept everything Singleton Love has to offer.
We will schedule a cleaning before her chemo and get her some meals with Dina at Dream Dinners. We will keep you posted on the volunteer opportunities. Jennifer also has a few bills that are starting to pile up. Her employer has been very supportive but she has missed many days because of the surgery. We are accepting donations on our website. Any money donated right now will go directly toward her bills. If you can help with this go to our web page singletonlove.org and our donated button is on the home page.
We 501c3 application is still pending and will let you know as soon as we get the letter! The picture below was taken at our meeting today.
With Love,Andy & Bobby
