Happy Tuesday! Hope you are having a wonderful day so far. It is very hot here today, so we spent a little time by the pool today. So in keeping with the warm weather and the water, I made this shadow box card! The wonderful thing about these cards is that they still fold flat to fit in an envelope and are easily mailed!

I used this cute little mermaid from CC Designs. She comes with her little sea lion pup friend!

To create my shadow box card, I started with 2 pieces of cardstock measuring 6x5 inches. Using a scoring tool, score the 6 inch side at .5", 1", 5" & 5.5". Fold the .5" & 5.5" to form a peak and the 1" & 5" lines to form a valley. I used a Nestability die to cut out the window on the front piece. Now you want to decorate the inside of your shadow box. I used distress inks to paint the background on watercolor paper and washed it with some Glimmer Mist to make it shimmer. My other elements were colored on Copic friendly paper with Copics and cut out. I popped all of the elements on the inside up with 3-D foam dots. After you have decorated the inside, you need to adhere the 2 papers together using double-sided tape.

 Here is a close-up of this swimming cutie. After coloring her with Copics, I covered her fins with Stickles. I also added some pearls to her ear and belt.

SHIMMERZ and new Whiff of Joy preorders!

Check out these beautiful cards from DT member Suzanne Dean using the new WOJ summer Willow & Oakley stamps (which are currently on preorder in the store and expected to ship in early June). The bottom image shows an up-close look at the Shimmerz paint on the bodice, skirt and top of Willow's hat. What I LOVE about this card is that Suzanne is not locked into a certain scheme for the card just because the image has cherries in it. Just because we traditionally think of fruit being a certain color doesn't mean we have to always color it that way. Take a chance with color! Experiment! The results are going to be amazing!

SHIMMERZ and BLINGZ in the store now!

I have just added 13 colors of Shimmerz and 2 colors of Blingz to the store. Here is some "technical" information on these new-to-the-store items:

Shimmerz are highly iridescent, waterbased, non-toxic paints. They adhere to nearly anything including metal and acetate and dry within minutes. They come in a sealed .25 oz. jar and are premixed and ready to use.

Blingz are highly iridescent, waterbased, non-toxic paints that have been called "Shimmerz on steroids."  They offer all the features of Shimmerz but are thicker and more glittery! They also adhere to nearly anything including metal and acetate, dry within minutes, come in a sealed .25 oz. jar, and are premixed and ready to use.

Below you will find a couple examples from Claudia Rosa showing how Shimmerz and Blingz can be used on cards to really make them sparkle.

Check out the sparkle on this card. Claudia used Shimmerz on the clovers and on the scallops of the die cut paper. Shimmerz and Blingz will really make your cards come alive!
