Handmade Envelope Tutorial
Here are directions and photos showing you how I create matching envelopes for my cards. I love this personal touch. I invest so much love and time in my creations that I feel like a matching handmade envelope is just the dot on the "i"! If you use paper or cardstock like the one pictured, you can still hand write the address onto the envelope. Dark or heavily patterned papers generally require that you put the address on an Avery Label that is applied to the envelope.
Lets get started. First, you will need the following supplies (all available at 7 KIDS):
The tool comes already marked with scoring numbers (but not for the card size I craft in, which is 6"X 6"). However, keep reading and you'll see how to score for this size envelope.
Cut your paper to 9.5" X 9.5".
Please not the "lip" on The Enveloper; this is an important "gap" you'll want to pay attention to once you lay your paper into The Enveloper.

For 6" X 6" cards, lay your cardstock on top of that "lip" (as shown in photo below) and score on the "F" mark all the way down on all four sides.

- The Enveloper
- Bone Folder
- Scissors
- Glue
- Green Sneakers Remoistenable Glue

Cut your paper to 9.5" X 9.5".

For 6" X 6" cards, lay your cardstock on top of that "lip" (as shown in photo below) and score on the "F" mark all the way down on all four sides.

The image below shows what your paper should look like at this point. Please note, score on the opposite side of the paper that you want to show. In this case, I want the colored side on the exterior of the envelope, so I scored on the white side (back side) of the paper.
With your scissors, carefully nip out the small triangles created by the scoring.

If you are making an envelope for a basic card, just fold and adhere your flaps with glue. However, if your card is thicker as a result of embellishments on the outside or inside of the card, you can make an "envelope box" instead. At this point envision folding the top flap once back towards the table making a little fold just a few millimeters above the scored line and fold back. (I have noticed that I have more control over the size of my fold when I fold it once to the back and then again to the front). Repeat this step on all 4 sides and you will get a 6" X 6" envelope box!

After your envelope is assembled, add the Green Sneakers Remoistenable Envelope Glue to the open flap. When you are ready to send, you just moisten the flap as you would do with your store-bought envelopes.
